"I am like a kid in a sweet shop when it comes to choosing colours."

Concrete Candy mixes the colours you could find in a sweet shop with concrete to create fun and stylish interior products. Each piece of Concrete Candy is handmade by Sarah using a combination of materials. Sarah recently produced a wonderful table of decorative objects for her Pudding Party installation which was showcased at the W.A Green store in Shoreditch, London for Shoreditch Design Triangle as part of last year’s London Design Festival. Sweet treats in the shape of fanciful jellies and puddings; a feast for the eyes and a colourful mix of textures. Taking inspiration from Mrs Beaton, Memphis design and retro dinner parties with a contemporary twist.

Sarah first explored combining materials at university where she found the juxtaposition of the two materials exciting and tactile. She went on to explore the use of colour in evoking emotions and memories creating a series of 3 dimensional still life prints for her Masters in Decorative Arts at Nottingham Trent University. She has since showcased her work as an emerging designer and maker at Heal’s Discovers and has worked in Textile Design and as a Lecturer in Art and Design. Since having her second child in 2017 Sarah felt the need to get creative again and so she started to play around with the materials and ideas she had used at university. Concrete Candy captures Sarah’s keen eye for colour and interest in textures.

She says,

“Colour inspires me. It is a personal expression of your mood. We can react to colour combinations that reflect and challenge our mood. A pop of colour in any interior can lift the mood or atmosphere. I am quite literally like a kid in a sweet shop when it comes to colour and creating Concrete Candy enables me to be that kid every day! ”

Sarah looks to work with other independent businesses and creatives and is always open to collaborate on unique projects. If you have a project or event that you would like to work with Sarah or want more more information about Concrete Candy
